Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, particularly known as Rajinikanth, is an Indian film artist who mainly works in Tamil cinema. Prior to becoming an actor, he was employed as a bus conductor in Bangalore Transport Services. In 1973, he took admission in Madras Film Institute to get a diploma in acting. He made his debut in the 1975 Tamil drama film Apoorva Ragangal, in the Tamil film he has played many Manmohan characters, which people still remember. Rajinikanth, born on 12 December 1950 in a Marathi family. His mother’s name was Ramabai and father’s name was Ramoji Rao, his father was a police constable and mother housewife from Bangalore. He was named Shivaji Rao after the Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji. He used to speak Marathi at home and in Kannada outside as a child. His daughter Aishwarya was married to actor Dhanush on 18 November 2004. His younger daughter Soundarya is a director, producer and graphic designer in the Tamil film industry. He was married to industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar on 3 September 2010.
